The Wrap itself.....

The leather used is of the highest quality, HandleBra looked at tons of hides before settling in on this formulation. It is finely chamfered to wrap relatively flat.

Care and Feeding of the Wrap.....

All Leather treatments affect leather color in some capacity. Please pre-test  in an inconspicuous spot.

The stuff I use is Obenauf LP. (except on White leather!). Obenauf is the used by Forest Firefighters on their boots!

Just Google Obenauf LP. Different stores have different prices. A big tube is about 15 fnrs (fed reserve non notes).  Got a leather Jacket? Leather shoes?  Leather Belt? .... You can use Obenauf all over the place. EXCELLENT on Brooks Leather Saddles Too!!!!

Apply the Obenauf LP to both sides and let dry overnight at the very least. Don't worry about how the Obenauf affects the color. Most of the color will return as the stuff dries in.

Don't forget to .... Work THE OBENAUF INTO THE WRAP WELL. One could use Proofide, but it's a lot more expensive and I believe less effective. Proofide does sink in a bit faster though.

Now, on White Leather Wrap, Obenauf has a tendency to turn the White to a cream/off white.  To treat the white leather and keep it white I use 303 Aerospace Protectant. Just Google “303 Aerospace”. I Apply 303, let dry a bit, wipe off and go wrap.

Wrapping the Bars.....

The Park Tools Website has excellent instructions.  Starting from drops, wrap up over the top of bar toward the bike. As most people tend to rotate their hands in towards the bike, this way, one is always naturally tightening the wrap.

Please observe that the wrap has NO adhesive strip. So it's reusable. Got a Brifter Problem????.... No need to chit can the leather wrap.

Please consider to FIRST wrapping the bar with athletic tape, available at any drugstore, or even better use Hockey tape. Else, the leather wrap could slip around a bit if it gets inundated in a rain storm.

You can wrap this leather wrap tight for a nice even flat final appearance. Use a bit of caution around the seams.

BUT EVEN BETTER.  Here is what I did!!! And it feels fantastic.

DOUBLE WRAP!!!!  Wrap the leather over some cheapo (thin) cork wrap. Used cork/stuff off the LBS floor works great!!!!!! This also provides a tad bit of firm cushion!!!  YOU WILL LOVE THIS ! Trust me...

After the wrap is completed, keep the bike in a warm place for a while.  Apply a bit more Obenauf if desired and rub/work in well.

Now go for a ride....

You could apply a bit of Obenauf to the surface again in 2-3 days. Again rub in well. And let dry again. Then, periodically re-apply Obenauf LP as needed

The edges of the wrap will eventually tend to "melt" into one another for a "liquid leather" feel and appearance.
